Product Introduction

 

Heliport wind socks are suitable for surface helicopter aprons, elevated helicopter aprons, and helicopter aprons on ships, etc., and play a role in guiding and warning helicopters to take off and land safely.

 

The helipoprt windsocks can indicate the wind direction for the final approach and takeoff, and can give a general indication of the wind speed. According to ICAO regulations, each airport must have at least one wind sock. Its installation location is selected to ensure that it is not disturbed by nearby objects or airflow blown by the rotor, and it must be clearly recognizable on aircraft at least 200 meters away.

Main functions and features:

 

● The helipoprt windsocks is a lighting wind cone which is a marker for observing wind force and wind direction at various heliports/airports and can be used during the day and at night.

 

● A red obstacle light with an LED light source is installed at the top to provide obstacle prompts for pilots at night.

● Two 10W tungsten halogen lamps (or 4 LED-10W floodlights) are installed on both sides of the top to provide lighting for the wind sock at night.

● A lightweight stainless steel wind bag frame and a bearing rotating mechanism capable of 360-degree horizontal rotation are installed on the upper part of the benchmark.

● A wind bag is installed on the wind bag frame (the wind bag is made of corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant nylon rainproof material, with good UV resistance and long service life. The color is red (orange) and white, divided into five sections, and the starting section is red (orange).) The wind bag sizes are divided into three types according to the total height of the benchmark:

1# caliber diameter is 300mm, small end diameter is 150mm, and length is 1.2m

2# caliber diameter is 600mm, small end diameter is 300mm, and length is 2.4m

3# caliber diameter is 900mm, small end diameter is 450mm, and length is 3.6m

Wind bag selection method: 1# wind bag is selected for less than 3.5 meters; 4 meters to 6 meters

Generally, 2# wind bag is selected, and 3# wind bag can be selected for wind vanes with a height greater than 6 meters.

● Pole bracket and base: both are made of SUS304 stainless steel. The total height of the wind direction sign can be 1.5m, 2.5m, 3.5m, 4m, 5m, 6m, 7m or as needed; when the total height is greater than 9 meters, a pull wire can be installed to increase stability.

● Customizable function: remote control can be achieved with a dedicated controller.

● Power lead: 1.5m (lead length can be customized).

● The product complies with the FAA's advisory circular AC150/5345-27C, L-806 and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Airport Design Manual Part 4.

● The maximum design wind speed is 260km/h, but areas with excessive wind speed or high ultraviolet intensity will shorten the service life of the wind sock. Bottom wiring, 2.5mm2 wire terminals are provided.

Installation and use method:

● Put the wind sock on the wind sock frame and tie the straps tightly. At the same time, check whether the connection between the wind sock frame and the rotating mechanism is firm. The two fixing claws of the wind sock frame should be firm and the bolts should be tightened. (The wind sock needs to be replaced once a year.)

● Connect the wind sock according to the product installation instructions and check the rotation of the wind sock. If there is a stuck phenomenon, lubricant (oil) should be added to the rotating bearing.

● Then connect the wires according to the line requirements in the product installation instructions and check whether the lamp works normally.

● After confirming that it is correct, the wind sock can be fixed on the concrete foundation with 4 M16 or 6 M16 screws. Then check the verticality of the mounting bracket. If it is found to be tilted, it should be adjusted.

● The installation chassis of the wind sock with a height of ≥6 meters is equipped with hinges for easy installation and maintenance. During installation, you can first fix the hinged sub-chassis and then vertically fix the main pole to save installation time. (The overall wind vane needs to be checked every six months.)
