                                       A plane crashed into a mountain in Indonesia.

On February 19th local time, an Air Tractor AT-802 aircraft belonging to Indonesian company PT Pelita crashed into a mountain near Lombawan Airport.

It is reported that the small aircraft, registration number PK-PAA, was on a fuel transport mission from Tarakan Juwata Airport to Lombawan Airport. The aircraft took off at 10:22 AM local time and landed safely in Lombawan at 11:24 AM. Upon arrival, ground personnel immediately began unloading operations, and the aircraft then took off empty at 12:10 PM to return to Tarakan.

At 12:30 PM, PT Pelita headquarters received initial information that the aircraft had likely crashed not far from Lombawan Airport. Following an emergency search, the wreckage was found, and the pilot was confirmed dead.

The Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

It is understood that the aircraft involved was a 2013 Air Tractor AT-802, in airworthy condition, and had completed its last routine maintenance on February 15, 2026.

The flight was operated by 54-year-old pilot Hendrick Lodewyck Adam, who joined PT Pelita in July 2021.

PT Pelita expressed its deepest condolences for the pilot's death and pledged to fulfill all its obligations and responsibilities, providing necessary support and companionship to the pilot's family.
