Since the foundation of 2017, Flylight manufactures and designs all kinds of helipad lights and beacons, like heliport inset FATO light, elevated perimeter lights, inset lights, half inset lights, flood lights, HAPI,etc. Those lights are widely used for applications like commercial, private, government, military, hospitals, etc. Those lights must be compliant with ICAO & FAA standard, especially for the photometric and chromaticity.

Regulations for helipad lights and heliport lighting system has changed a lot these decades, Explore the latest regulations from us and reach our heliport lighting experts to ensure your products, solutions are 100% compliant with relative standards.

Our airport approach lighting solutions are currently used at over 50 airports to provide reliable, cost-effective approach lighting that meet FAA L-849 standards. Our airport runway approach lights comply with international standards, are versatile and can be used as simple runway and identifier lights (REIL), medium intensity approach lighting system with runway alignment indicator lights (MALSR), approach lighting system with sequenced flashing lights (ALSF), omni-directional approach lighting system (ODALS) and other alignment and marking purposes. Airport lighting system products we offer include:

  • Unidirectional lighting, current or voltage driven

  • Omnidirectional lights, current or voltage driven

  • Controllers/monitors for current or voltage driven lighting

  • Airport and wave-off  beacons

  • Illuminated wind cones

  • Precision approach path  indicator (PAPI) lights

We don't simply sell airport lighting systems. We also provide  training services, helpful videos, and equipment manuals and quick start guides. Our goal is to make installing, maintaining and repairing your airport approach lights as easy as possible.

View individual airport lighting system details below or reach out to one of our lighting specialists to discuss your specific needs.

Under FAA AC 150/5390-2C Heliport Design.all helicopter operations fall under general aviation (GA) except scheduled passenger service. GA helipads serve individuals, corporations and helicopter air taxi services. While most are privately owned, some may also be publicly owned.

The general aviation helipad lighting system diagrams below assume only one helicopter will ever be within the FATO. If more than one helicopter will be in use, a separate FATO with its own TLOF is required.

Helicopter landing pad lights required by the FAA include final approach and take off (FATO) lights, touchdown and lift-off area (TLOF) lights and landing direction lights.

Additional helipad lights may be required or recommended based on a site's aeronautical study:

  • Flight path alignment lights mark the direction of approach and/or departure flight paths.

  • Helicopter approach path indicator (HAPI) lights may be used to provide glideslope guidance to pilots.

  • A helicopter windsock indicates wind direction and speed. If the helipad will serve nighttime flights, the wind cone must be lit.

  • A heliport beacon may help pilots visually identify the helipad.

  • Helipad taxiway  centerline (bidirectional green) and taxiway edge lights (omnidirectional blue) may improve taxiway taxi route visibility.

  • Red obstruction lights to mark any obstacles near the helipad or its approach and departure path.

  • A helicopter approach lighting system (HALS) bearing a distinct design ensures the heliport is not mistaken for an airport approach lighting system and runway.
