News from Civil Aviation Resources Network on April 7, 2024: According to Simpleflying, on the morning of April 5, local time, a United Airlines Boeing 777-200ER (registration number N209UA) encountered an engine failure during the flight. Passengers said they heard There was a loud bang and flames were seen coming from one of the engines. The flight then made an emergency return and landed safely.

It is reported that the flight involved was flight UA885, flying from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Washington Dulles Airport. An engine failure occurred during the flight, and it was suspected that the engine compressor stalled.

According to the "Aviation Herald" report, the passenger plane took off from Runway 25 of Rome's Fiumicino Airport. When it climbed 2,500 feet, passengers reported that an engine sprayed a stream of flames.
