Civil Aviation Resources Network, January 14, 2025: According to foreign media reports, in early January, when an Air France passenger plane was about to arrive at its destination, Rio de Janeiro, a passenger accidentally blocked the toilet in the bathroom, and the plane subsequently made an emergency landing at Pinto Martins International Airport.
It is reported that the aircraft involved was a 777-300ER (registration number F-GZNI), which was originally scheduled to fly AF484 from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to Rio de Janeiro Airport (GIG), Brazil. After the crew learned that the toilet was blocked, they finally decided to make an emergency landing at Pinto Martins Airport in accordance with the emergency procedures.
Frankfurt Airport Management Company, which manages Brazilian airports, said that flight AF484 had to make an emergency landing due to a toilet failure on the plane, and the aircraft had to be maintained and sanitary garbage removed.
According to Brazilian media reports, the incident was caused by a passenger who made the toilet unusable, but no further details were provided. The accident caused the flight to be delayed, and the flight to Rio continued after the toilet was repaired and unblocked. Air France has yet to comment on the incident.
