News from Civil Aviation Resources Network on May 12, 2024: On the evening of May 11, the first flight CZ8031 took off from Shenzhen, flew for about 16 hours, spanned more than 14,000 kilometers, and arrived in Mexico City.

This route is unusual - it is currently the longest direct international passenger route in CHINA, and the only direct passenger route from mainland  China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to Mexico and even Latin America.

Flight CZ8031 landed at the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City. A high-standard Watergate welcome ceremony was held locally. The Chinese Ambassador to Mexico Zhang Run, the Minister of Tourism of Mexico and others greeted the flight at the airport.

Over 14,000 kilometers! arrived safely!

According to the FAQ display, this flight CZ8031 took off from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport at 21:59 Beijing time on May 11 and arrived at Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City at 23:24 local time on May 11. Flight time is 15 hours and 25 minutes.

The "cross-hemispheric" exchange distance between China and Latin America has been narrowed
The opening of direct flights makes travel between China and Latin America more efficient and convenient. Previously, passengers flying from China to Mexico or other Latin American countries usually had to make one or two transfers in Japan, South Korea, North America, Europe, the Middle East and other places. Some transfer places required transit visas, and the journey time was as long as 30-40 hours. After the route is opened, the direct flight to Mexico City will only take 16 hours, greatly shortening the travel time. It is reported that China Southern Airlines has two flights per week on the Shenzhen-Mexico City route, operated by the "Sunglasses Man" Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft. Outbound flight CZ8031 is operated every Tuesday and Saturday, departing from Shenzhen at 21:00 Beijing time and arriving in Mexico City at 23:00 local time. The return trip CZ8032 is performed every Wednesday and Sunday, taking off from Mexico City at 01:00 local time, with a technical stop in Tijuana, and arriving in Shenzhen at 12:20 Beijing time the next day. Hou Ming, deputy general manager of China Southern Airlines Shenzhen Branch, said that the launch of the Shenzhen-Mexico City route is an important measure taken by China Southern Airlines to actively respond to and serve the needs of China-Latin America economic and trade development and personnel exchanges, and to promote high-level opening up to the outside world.

In addition, China Southern Airlines has signed aviation cooperation agreements with airlines such as AeroMexico. Through connecting flights, it can not only reach major cities in Mexico (such as Monterrey, Cancun, etc.), but also radiate to the needs of more Chinese passengers. Large cities in South American countries (such as Sao Paulo in Brazil, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Lima in Peru, etc.) will save distance and time for travelers traveling to Antarctica. At the same time, this route also provides more convenience for passengers from Latin America to and from Asian cities such as Singapore, Bangkok, and Seoul via China.

The opening of a direct passenger route is ultimately driven by the source of passengers and demand from the two places.

Mexico is China's second largest trading partner in Latin America and has a long history and rich tourism resources. In recent years, exchanges and cooperation between the two countries have become increasingly frequent, with a diverse customer source base including tourism, business, family visits, and labor services. Cross-hemispheric communication is far away, yet very close.

High-quality beef from the Pampas, mellow red wine from the Andes, and specialty coffee from the tropical rain forests... More and more high-quality products from Latin America are entering Chinese households, and Chinese mobile phones, computers, cars and other products continue to sell well in Latin America. "The opening of this route is an important measure taken by China Southern Airlines to actively respond to and serve the needs of China-Latin America economic and trade development and personnel exchanges, and to promote high-level opening up." said Yuan Jintao, general manager of China Southern Airlines Shenzhen Branch.

Jesús Schyard, Mexican Ambassador to China, who attended the maiden flight ceremony that day, said that China is Mexico's largest trading partner in the Asia-Pacific region and Mexico's second largest trading partner in the world. In order to promote Mexico's economic and social development , we must strengthen ties with China. "As an ambassador, I have witnessed that Mexico has aroused strong interest from Chinese companies, and Chinese companies' willingness to invest in Mexico has grown rapidly."
