At 11:59 AM on April 26, China Southern Airlines flight CZ3813, carrying 144 passengers, smoothly landed at Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, passing through a water salute symbolizing the highest level of civil aviation protocol. This marked the official commencement of operations for the domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft at Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, making Hefei the 23rd city to receive commercial flights for the C919. This not only represents new momentum for Hefei's route network under the "Made in China" initiative but also serves as another vivid example of how domestically produced large passenger aircraft can contribute to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
The inaugural flight of the C919 aircraft on the Guangzhou-Hefei route is scheduled as follows: Outbound flight CZ3813 departs Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 10:00 and arrives at Hefei Xinqiao International Airport at 12:00; return flight CZ3814 departs Hefei Xinqiao International Airport at 13:05 and arrives at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 15:15. China Southern Airlines plans to establish regular C919 operations on this route in the future.
Currently, China Southern Airlines has 10 C919 domestically produced large aircraft. Since its official commercial operation, the C919 has won market recognition for its excellent performance and reliability. In terms of cabin design, China Southern Airlines deeply integrates the concepts of "friendly and refined" with "green flight," featuring a three-class layout with a total of 164 seats. The cabin is spacious and open, equipped with customized seats and other facilities, and all cabins have personal charging ports, providing passengers with a comfortable, convenient, and relaxed travel experience.
As the C919 fleet continues to grow, China Southern Airlines has concentrated its C919 fleet on major routes such as Guangzhou to Beijing Daxing, Wuhan, Nanjing, Ningbo, Xi'an, Wenzhou, and Hefei, and is gradually expanding the airline's route network based on this. To date, China Southern's C919 fleet has operated over 9,500 flights, transporting nearly 1.3 million passengers.
To ensure the continued stable operation of the domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft, China Southern's Hefei branch, in conjunction with Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, organized training sessions focusing on aircraft characteristics and operational standards. Simultaneously, they optimized the entire ground service process, focusing on efficient coordination in key areas such as gate allocation, cargo and mail loading and unloading, and in-flight catering, laying a solid foundation for the safe and smooth operation of the C919 at Hefei Airport.
In addition, China Southern Airlines selected an experienced and highly skilled elite crew to operate the flight, making meticulous preparations for key aspects of the Guangzhou-Hefei route, including route information, approach procedures, and flight plans. They also prepared unique postcards that blend Hefei's cultural heritage with traditional Chinese poetic imagery. Captain Peng Kai, the captain in charge of this flight, is a native of Anhui province. He has successfully completed the inaugural flights of China Southern's C919 Guangzhou-Sanya and Guangzhou-Nanjing routes and was selected in 2025 to operate the C919 at the Dubai Airshow. Regarding this inaugural flight, Captain Peng Kai could not hide his excitement: "I am from Anhui. Today, flying the inaugural Guangzhou-Hefei flight, piloting the domestically produced C919 back to my hometown, I feel incredibly proud and excited."
