1. In the summer flight season of 2024, according to the red headed plan released by the authorities, the average weekly volume of the entire civil aviation industry is 141000, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year in the summer flight season of 2023, an increase of 5.9% month on month in the winter flight season of 2023, and an increase of 20.5% year-on-year in the summer flight season of 2019. Among them, foreign airlines are gradually recovering, an increase of 14.1% month on month, and a decrease of 16.4% year-on-year in the summer flight season of 2019;

2. The planned number of flights at national airports is 261000, an increase of 6.1% year-on-year in the summer season and 5.8% year-on-year in the winter season. The year-on-year increase is mainly due to the contribution of self coordinating airports, with the main coordinating airports increasing by 11.3% year-on-year;
3. The passenger volume of the three major airlines remained in the top three, with a year-on-year growth rate of 8%~14%, mainly from the international market. Other domestic airlines generally increased their passenger flights year-on-year, with Tianjiao Airlines (+57.1%), Urumqi Airlines (+22.0%), and Capital Airlines (+20.7%) having the highest year-on-year growth rates. Guilin Airlines and Happiness Airlines have significantly reduced their flights, with a year-on-year decline of over 20%;

In the domestic passenger route network structure of the entire civil aviation industry, the share of direct flight time accounts for 68.8%, a decrease of 0.9 pct month on month and an increase of 2.9 pct year on year; The single flight distance of domestic passenger transportation has further increased to 1240km;
5. After a continuous decline in recent seasons, civil aviation cargo flights across the country have rebounded, with the increase mainly coming from domestic and international flights, increasing by 12.1% and 26.6% month on month, respectively;
6. The top three popular passenger transportation routes in China are all related to Hongqiao, namely Shenzhen=Hongqiao, Hongqiao=Guangzhou, and Hongqiao=Capital. The weekly flight volume exceeds 550, but there are reductions in both year-on-year and month on month, with a decrease of 6, 28, and 28 flights respectively;

From the perspective of flight structure, the Northeast and Xinjiang regions have a relatively high proportion of abandoned flights due to geographical factors, with the proportion of abandoned flights exceeding 30%. Driven by the international regional market, Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangdong ranked in the top three with year-on-year growth rates of 20.7%, 15.6%, and 14.0%, respectively. Ningxia (-13.2%), Hebei (-10.8%), and Anhui (-6.9%) had the highest year-on-year decline, while Shanxi, Jiangxi, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, and Heilongjiang had a slight year-on-year decline of less than 4%;
9. From the perspective of airports with a capacity of tens of millions, the total time volume of 37 airports increased year-on-year, while the total time volume of 4 airports decreased year-on-year. The top three airports with year-on-year growth were Pudong (+31.3%), Qingdao (+24.3%), and Capital (+21.4%), respectively. The incremental contribution mainly came from the international regional market, with Yinchuan (-14.0%), Shijiazhuang (-5.8%), Hohhot (-1.1%), and Yantai (-1.1%) sliding down year-on-year;

The average weekly volume of international passenger flights in China during the 2024 summer season was 13350, a month on month increase of 6.8%, and a year-on-year decrease of 22.8% during the 2019 summer season. The number of international passenger flights in Pudong, Guangzhou, and the capital ranked in the top three, with an average weekly volume of 2868, 1626, and 1329, respectively, accounting for 21.5%, 12.2%, and 10.0% of the total international passenger flight volume in China;
11. International passenger flights throughout the country are still dominated by Southeast Asia, with a weekly volume of 6064 flights, an increase of 2.1% compared to the previous year, a decrease of 26.5% compared to the summer season of 2019. Compared to the winter season of 2023, the time volume in North America and Central Asia increased significantly, with a month on month increase of over 40%. Compared to the summer season of 2019, the number of flights between Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia in China has exceeded the same period in 2019, with a year-on-year increase of 13.3%, 7.2%, and 0.2% in the summer season of 2019, respectively;
12. The popular international cities are Bangkok, Seoul, and Tokyo, with weekly flight volumes of 1666, 1654, and 986, respectively, representing a year-on-year increase of -19.6%, -5.5%, and 18.1% in the summer season of 2019.
