Civil Aviation Resource Net (CARNOC), September 29, 2026: Recently, the Renshoutang Tianbao Elderly Care Center in Shanghai's Hongkou District has garnered public attention for hiring former flight attendants for service roles. These former cabin crew members have transitioned into the elderly care industry, applying their aviation service experience to the care of the elderly.

According to media reports, five employees at the Tianbao Elderly Care Center have backgrounds as flight attendants, with most possessing over a decade of experience in civil aviation. These former crew members stated, "We hope to provide aviation-standard, high-quality service to the residents; ensuring the seniors are happy and satisfied is our top priority."

However, not all of these former flight attendants work in frontline nursing roles; instead, they are distributed across various positions, including administration, marketing and sales, cafeteria management, and logistics support. Notably, one former flight attendant serves as the director of the center's administrative office. Beyond her administrative duties, she spends time keeping the seniors company, organizing recreational activities, and providing hands-on guidance for arts and crafts projects. She also plans to obtain nursing-related certifications to further deepen her expertise in the elderly care sector.

These employees, having transitioned from the civil aviation industry, bring the etiquette, communication skills, and emergency response capabilities honed during their time as flight attendants into the center's daily operations. When interacting with seniors who have diverse personalities and varying physical conditions, they excel at patient listening and gentle communication, leveraging their strengths when welcoming visiting families, organizing recreational activities, and handling unexpected daily situations.

The care center was created through the renovation of an existing building and offers 458 nursing-care beds, primarily in double-occupancy rooms. According to the center, they intentionally recruit professionals with flight attendant backgrounds for two reasons: first, these individuals have undergone professional training and possess strong service mindsets, resilience under pressure, and adaptability; second, they project a cheerful and positive image-qualities that enhance the center's competitiveness by combining a welcoming appearance with excellent service capabilities.
