Hong Kong International Airport’s passenger volume reached 3.3 million in September, a five-fold increase year-on-year

 

News from Civil Aviation Resources Network on October 21, 2023: The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced the air traffic volume of Hong Kong International Airport in September 2023 on the 20th. During the month, the airport's passenger volume reached 3.3 million, and approximately 24,200 aircraft movements were recorded.

The Airport Authority said that overall, passenger traffic maintained a steady recovery in September. Compared with the low base in the same month of 2022, passenger traffic increased fivefold year-on-year, and aircraft movements doubled.

 

The number of passengers in all categories increased significantly year-on-year, with passenger traffic to and from Southeast Asia, Mainland China and Japan showing the largest increase. Within the month, Qingdao Airlines joined the Hong Kong International Airport to provide passenger services to and from Qingdao via Huangshan, further expanding Hong Kong's aviation network.

 

In September, freight volume also continued to rise, reaching 375,000 tons, an increase of 10% year-on-year. Export freight volume increased by 23.6% compared with the same month in 2022, and freight volume to and from major trading regions in the Middle East, Europe and North America increased significantly.

 

In the first nine months of 2023, the passenger volume of Hong Kong International Airport increased more than 11 times to 27.7 million passengers compared with the same period in 2022, the number of aircraft movements doubled to approximately 192,100, and the cargo volume slightly decreased by 1.3% year-on-year to 3.1 million tons.

In the past 12 months, passenger traffic increased significantly 10 times year-on-year to 31 million passengers, aircraft movements jumped 67.1% to 234,110, and cargo volume fell 8.8% to 4.2 million metric tons.
