According to the South China Morning Post, sources revealed that COMAC is considering turning its C919 plant into an industrial tourism hotspot and a patriotic education base.
According to reports, at the Zhuhai Air Show held last week, a source told the South China Morning Post that COMAC plans to open part of its plant near Shanghai Pudong International Airport for visitors to visit. The plant covers an area of 2.67 million square meters.
The report said that COMAC has successfully realized China's dream of large aircraft and has been widely praised by the media. COMAC's current main task is to further expand the order volume of C919. Since the first commercial flight of C919 in May 2023, major Chinese airlines have ordered at least 300 C919s. At the same time, COMAC is also actively expanding overseas markets and promoting international sales through new offices in Hong Kong and Singapore.

In September this year, COMAC launched the trial operation of the large aircraft science and technology culture camp for young people. The learning project is organized by China Tourism Group and is open on specific weekdays.
According to COMAC, the Large Aircraft Science and Technology Cultural Camp is a blue sky tour, exploration tour and cultural tour mainly for young people, with COMAC and China Tourism Group taking COMAC's final assembly and manufacturing center as the main base and the theme of "Experience the road to take-off and fly the blue sky dream". It includes boarding the Y-10, visiting the C919 large passenger aircraft final assembly workshop, reviewing the development history of China's large aircraft, interacting with test pilots or engineers on site, and manual experience classes.
In a recent visit by the South China Morning Post, the trainees visited the test flight command hall, and COMAC engineers explained the process of human pursuit of the dream of flying on site.
Dennis Lau, director of consulting services at Asian Sky Group, said: "Boeing and Airbus have opened facility tours and are very popular. If COMAC also launches similar tours, I believe it will be equally popular."
Steven Zhao, CEO of Guilin International Travel Agency, said that children who are interested in flying and adults who are interested in China's aircraft manufacturing factories will have the opportunity to visit COMAC's factories.
It is reported that the aircraft manufacturing plant in Shanghai plans to add some facilities, such as building a museum, to enhance the visitor experience and publicity effect. A company insider revealed that as more production facilities are opened, visitors will be able to see more interesting content. In addition, the factory's ability to receive students and tourists will also be further enhanced.
