Civil Aviation Resources Network, August 18, 2024: According to Reuters, hundreds of border workers at Heathrow Airport in the UK will go on strike at the end of August.
The union said the strike will start from August 31 to September 3, and about 650 employees are expected to participate. After that, the union will continue industrial action for more than two weeks. During this period, employees will work according to regulations and refuse overtime until September 22.
The union said that since April, it has arranged to negotiate with the airport authorities to discuss changes in working conditions and inflexible shift arrangements, but no agreement has been reached.
This strike action coincides with the end of the British school summer vacation, which is one of the busiest periods at Heathrow Airport and is expected to have a serious impact on airport operations.
