According to CCTV Finance, on the 19th, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) issued a membership certificate to China United Airlines. Including Tibet Airlines and Qingdao Airlines, which have obtained membership certificates this year, 33 of the 48 member airlines in IATA North Asia are from mainland China. Nick Cullen, senior vice president of operations, safety and security at IATA, said in an interview with a reporter from the Financial Channel that IATA opened an office in Beijing in 1994 and witnessed and participated in the rapid development of China's aviation industry in the past 30 years. IATA predicts that China will surpass the United States in 2030 and become the world's largest air passenger market.

Nick Cullen, senior vice president of IATA: I think that in the past 30 years, China's aviation industry has achieved tremendous changes. China has done a great job in airport construction and aviation market growth, faster than most countries in the world. We expect that by 2030, China will become the world's largest air passenger market, and the average annual growth rate of China's aviation market will reach 5.7% in the next 20 years, higher than the global growth rate of 3.8%.

IATA: In the next 3 to 5 years, biometric technology will be rapidly popularized and passengers will not need paper materials to board the plane

A recent report released by IATA shows that convenience and efficiency are one of the top priorities for passengers when traveling. 75% of the passengers surveyed prefer to use biometric technology rather than traditional paper passports and boarding passes. IATA said that in the next 3 to 5 years, biometric technology will be widely used in airports around the world, and seamless connection will be achieved between different airports.

Nick Cullen, senior vice president of IATA: In terms of passenger travel, we are most likely to see further use of biometric technology, digital passports, and digital ID cards. This is very efficient for airlines and convenient for passengers, who do not have to search for passports and tickets in their bags. We can use biometric technologies such as facial recognition to make the process from arrival at the airport to boarding smoother and more convenient. At this stage, we are standardizing this process. In the next 3 to 5 years, we will see this technology become a reality around the world.

IATA Senior Vice President: China will lead the trend of digital currency in the aviation field

At the end of October this year, IATA announced the introduction of digital currency in its aviation industry financial settlement (BSP) system, and the digital RMB will be the first digital currency to be included in the Chinese BSP system at the end of this year. This move will promote the internationalization of digital RMB in the global aviation industry, especially in the field of B2B applications.

IATA Senior Vice President Nick Cullen: China will lead the trend of people accepting digital currency, and IATA will complete this work by the end of this year. I look forward to the eventual launch of this technology in other countries and regions. The Chinese market is ready for this, and other countries and regions will also benefit from it.
