Iraqi city of Kirkuk opens new international airport

The Russian Satellite News Agency quoted the Kurdistan24 website as reporting that the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk reopened a new international airport on the 16th.
The first to land on the airport's runway was a government plane carrying Iraqi Transport Minister Nasser Shibli and Acting Finance Minister Khayyam Nimmat on their way to Kirkuk for the official opening of the airport.
According to the Iraqi News Agency, Kirkuk Airport will begin accepting international flights today (16th).
The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority said: "Kirkuk International Airport complies with all international standards and requirements and is ready to receive any flight."
