On November 17, 2025, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that Juneyao Airlines' Shanghai-Sydney and Shanghai-Melbourne routes will soon celebrate their first anniversary. Since their inception, these two routes have become important air corridors connecting China and Australia. To date, the Sydney route has transported over 100,000 passengers, and the Melbourne route has exceeded 90,000, marking a significant milestone for Juneyao Airlines in expanding its global network and advancing its internationalization strategy. To celebrate this achievement, Juneyao Airlines, in conjunction with Sydney Airport and Tourism New South Wales, is hosting a first-anniversary celebration to discuss the future development potential of the routes. Meanwhile, in Melbourne, Juneyao Airlines will also partner with Melbourne Airport to distribute customized souvenirs to passengers during the anniversary period, further strengthening the emotional connection with its passengers.

Juneyao Airlines Chairman Wang Junjin stated, "A year ago, we launched the air route connecting Shanghai and Sydney. It's not just a route, but a bridge linking the economies and cultures of China and Australia. Over the past year, we have witnessed the steady growth of the route and deeply felt its mission in cross-regional exchange." He further emphasized that Juneyao Airlines focuses on the network effect and ecological synergy of its routes. The Shanghai-Sydney route, as the company's seventh intercontinental route, is a key measure to expand the Southern Hemisphere market and deepen its Asia-Pacific layout, reflecting Juneyao Airlines' determination to promote high-quality development with an international perspective.
Currently, Juneyao Airlines operates four flights per week on the Shanghai-Sydney route (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday), and three flights per week on the Shanghai-Melbourne route (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). To meet market demand, these two routes will be increased to daily flights from January 30th to February 28th, 2026. This increase coincides with the Spring Festival holiday and the transition from spring to summer in Australia, providing travelers with more flexible options for winter getaways to the Southern Hemisphere and facilitating a deeper experience of Australia's unique natural scenery and cultural charm. Leveraging Juneyao Airlines' efficient transit services, passenger volume via Shanghai to and from Sydney, Melbourne, and other Chinese cities has significantly increased. Popular domestic transit destinations include Beijing, Guangzhou, and Xi'an, while international transit is primarily through cities such as Osaka, Tokyo, and Seoul. This network not only enriches travelers' travel options but also further strengthens Shanghai's radiating influence as an international aviation hub.
The achievements of the first year of operation are a significant reflection of the recovery of the China-Australia route market and the deepening of Juneyao Airlines' internationalization strategy. Since 2025, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Australia has exceeded 980,000, demonstrating a significant market recovery. This positive trend has laid a solid foundation of passenger base and market confidence for Juneyao Airlines' continued operation of the Shanghai-Sydney and Shanghai-Melbourne routes. In the future, Juneyao Airlines will continue to improve its global route network, promoting cross-regional cultural and economic exchanges with safe, convenient, and comfortable services, injecting new momentum into the prosperity of the international aviation market.
