Major U.S. airlines will provide passengers with compensation plans when their flights are temporarily cancelled or delayed, including cash refunds, ticket vouchers or ticket credits for consumers to plan their itineraries in the future. However, even if the situation is in line with cash refunds, most airlines will not take the initiative to inform consumers, but use the ticket coupons with a limited period of use as compensation. If they are not careful, they will expire and cause losses in disguise.
U.S. government officials have noticed recent airline delays and poor refund arrangements, and plan to push the "The Cash Refunds for Flight Cancellations Act" flight cancellation refund bill, requiring the U.S. Department of Transportation to regulate airline flights due to lack of staff, and In the event of a temporary cancellation or delay due to technical problems, etc., there is a cash refund arrangement. The airline has to provide passengers with cash refunds or the right to choose an open-dated ticket coupon within 30 days of flight cancellation. In addition, the bill also proposes a cash refund arrangement option if booking passengers give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel their flight.
U.S. Democratic Senator Edward Markey, who proposed the bill, said that travelers are tired of wasting time seeking cash refunds from airlines. Although they book flights in advance but face health concerns, it is not appropriate to take risks or cancel non-refundable itineraries.
