According to Reuters, on June 14, local time, Republican Senator Chuck Grassley launched a new congressional oversight investigation into the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing, involving the incident in which a Boeing 737 MAX 9 passenger plane fell off in the air in January this year.
On January 5, a Boeing 737MAX9 passenger plane of Alaska Airlines had a "door plug" fall off during the flight, and the flight subsequently made an emergency landing.
Grassley said that the FAA and Boeing must explain the cause of the accident and what specific measures are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers.
Grassley asked the FAA and Boeing to answer 38 questions and asked for relevant documents on safety procedures, regulatory requirements, corrective measures and protection of whistleblowers.
In response, the FAA said it would directly respond to the Senate's questions, and Boeing said it would continue to maintain a positive and transparent attitude towards Congress.
