According to Xinjiang Airport Group, from January to May this year, the group handled 20.92 million passengers, 140,000 tons of cargo and mail, and 190,000 aircraft movements, representing year-on-year increases of 7.7%, 7.6%, and 5.5%, respectively.
Urumqi Tianshan International Airport handled 11 million passengers, 120,000 tons of cargo and mail, and 80,000 aircraft movements, with international transit passengers accounting for 47.6%, demonstrating a continued amplification of its hub transit effect.
Since the C909 domestically produced regional jet entered Xinjiang more than two years ago, 35 aircraft have connected all civilian airports in the region, enabling "one-day round trips within Xinjiang." Simultaneously, the trend of "long journeys, short stays" in Xinjiang tourism has improved, with significant increases in tourist numbers and tourism revenue. Currently, the C909 operates nearly 150 flights daily, maintaining continuous service throughout the winter, carrying over 3.6 million passengers in Xinjiang.
