According to photos on social media, a giant tornado appeared in the sky near Palermo Falcone-Borsellino Airport, catching passengers at the airport off guard.

The airport did not suffer any structural damage and most flights continued to operate normally. Among them, a British Airways A320-232 (registration number G-EUUA) departing from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) made an emergency landing at Catania Airport due to safety reasons related to weather conditions.
