Civil Aviation Resources Network, March 03, 2025: According to Bloomberg, Air France-KLM Group announced plans to bid for a stake in Portugal's TAP Airlines. It is reported that several European airlines are interested in the acquisition of Portugal's TAP Airlines.
Ben Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM Group, said in a statement that the group is ready to participate in the privatization process of Portugal's TAP Airlines. It is reported that the Portuguese government is considering selling at least 49% of TAP Airlines' shares. Air France-KLM Group is currently evaluating the possibility of holding a majority or minority stake in TAP Airlines.
According to Bloomberg, if acquired, Air France-KLM Group will retain the brand, image and fleet of Portugal's TAP Airlines in accordance with the conditions stipulated by the Portuguese government. Air France-KLM Group also aims to strengthen connectivity within Portugal (including second-tier cities).
