Civil Aviation Resources Network, January 13, 2025: Recently, the new generation of versatile mid-size wide-body Airbus A330neo aircraft obtained the type certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). Obtaining airworthiness certification is an important milestone for the Airbus A330neo aircraft to be put into operation in the Chinese mainland market in the future.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China confirmed that the design of the Airbus A330neo aircraft complies with the relevant provisions of China's civil aviation regulations and recognized the A330neo type certificate issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). All new aircraft need to obtain type certification from international aviation management agencies to ensure that the aircraft meets or exceeds all airworthiness requirements.
Xu Gang, Airbus Global Executive Vice President and CEO of Airbus China, said: "The Airbus A330neo aircraft is a new generation of fleet all-rounder with higher efficiency and flexibility to support airlines operating short-haul, long-haul and high-altitude routes. Mainland Chinese airlines currently operate about 200 A330ceo aircraft. As some A330ceos are approaching retirement, the A330neo is seen as a better replacement model. It retains the advantages of the A330ceo such as versatility, high commonality and reliability, while improving efficiency, performance and passenger comfort."
The Airbus A330neo aircraft uses the new generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engine, a new generation flight operating system and aerodynamic design. Designed to operate efficiently across different flight segments, the A330neo reduces fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 25% compared to previous generation competing aircraft. The larger A330-900 in the A330neo family is a multi-purpose platform that offers airlines more efficiency, from short-haul routes to non-stop routes of up to 7,200 nautical miles/13,330 kilometers, and offers passengers a higher level of comfort through the award-winning Airbus "Flyspace" cabin. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A330 family can fly with up to 50% blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to achieve 100% SAF fuel for all aircraft products by 2030.
As of the end of December 2024, Airbus A330 family aircraft have received 1,853 confirmed orders from more than 130 customers worldwide, and there are now more than 1,400 A330 aircraft active on short, medium and long-haul routes around the world.
