ITA said that the company will operate two flights per week from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Tripoli Mitiga Airport.
Andrea Benassi, general manager of ITA Airlines, said in a statement: "We are honored to resume commercial direct flights between Tripoli and Rome Fiumicino, which will strengthen commercial and cultural ties between Libya and Italy and support bilateral relations between the two countries."
Mohammed Shahubi, Minister of Transport of the Libyan National Unity Government, said that the resumption of flights between the two countries confirmed "the security and safety of our airspace and the qualification of Libyan airports."
