Civil Aviation Resources Network, July 22, 2025: According to CCTV News, the reporter learned from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on July 22 that according to the latest airport statistics, in the first half of this year, Baiyun Airport's passenger throughput exceeded 40 million for the first time.
It is understood that in the first half of the year, Baiyun Airport's passenger and cargo transportation achieved steady growth:
-A total of 266,000 flights were guaranteed, and the passenger throughput reached 40.036 million, an increase of 7.0% and 9.2% year-on-year respectively;
-Cargo and mail throughput was 1.169 million tons, an increase of 2.0% year-on-year.
Among them, the performance of international and regional business was particularly outstanding, with 58,000 flights and 8.189 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 16.1% and 22.9% respectively, becoming the core engine driving growth.
Passenger and cargo transportation are both booming
In the first half of this year, Baiyun Airport, in cooperation with domestic and foreign airlines, successfully opened or increased the number of international and regional passenger routes, added important "Belt and Road" destinations such as Surabaya and Almaty, and promoted the weekly frequency of international and regional passenger flights to exceed 1,600 flights, and the route network covers 93 international and regional destinations.
In terms of cargo transportation, in the first half of this year, Baiyun Airport, with the strong support of customs, logistics and other units, ensured that the import and export cargo volume exceeded 750,000 tons, setting a new record in recent years. In addition, in March this year, the country's first "civil aviation security inspection pre-position + customs inspection pre-position" cargo terminal was established at the Baiyun Airport port, realizing the seamless connection between the comprehensive bonded area and the airport apron, and the efficiency of export cargo collection and transportation increased by 70%.
It is expected that about 14.6 million passengers will be picked up and sent off during the summer travel season.
This summer travel season, Baiyun Airport is expected to pick up and send off about 14.6 million passengers, with an average of 235,000 passengers arriving and departing per day, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%; 96,000 flights will be guaranteed, with an average of 1,544 flights per day, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%.
Taking China Southern Airlines, the base airline of Baiyun Airport, as an example, during the summer travel season, China Southern Airlines will open and increase the frequency of routes from Guangzhou to Xining, Lijiang, Hailar, Dehong, etc., and will operate more than 110 domestic routes, with an estimated weekly round-trip flight capacity of more than 4,000 flights.
At present, with the opening of more international routes such as China Southern Airlines Riyadh in the second half of the year, and the accelerated advancement of the third phase expansion project of Baiyun Airport, in the future, Baiyun Airport will become the first large-scale aviation hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the second in the country with "double towers and five runways". By then, Baiyun Airport's annual passenger throughput capacity will reach 120 million passengers and its cargo and mail throughput capacity will reach 3.8 million tons.
