Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL) inaugurated its new pharmaceutical processing center at the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal earlier this month. The facility covers an area of more than 1,250 square meters and is temperature-controlled, specially designed for the processing of pharmaceuticals.

The pharmaceutical processing center is designed for unique pharmaceutical processing requirements. Using new technologies and unique designs, it provides solutions for various temperature-sensitive goods, so that customers can have no worries. Many new equipment and features include:

• Real-time temperature monitoring: Through the online monitoring system, real-time monitoring of temperature and humidity (more than 60 temperature monitors), to ensure that the goods are processed under a controlled ambient temperature (15°C to 25°C).

• Constant temperature cargo platform: The constant temperature lobby is equipped with an inflatable door-sealed cargo platform, allowing goods to be loaded into trucks in a nearly sealed environment to ensure that they maintain the optimum temperature during acceptance and delivery.

• Multiple charging points: Utilize an innovative floating mobile charging system, including 45 mobile chargers in the cargo staging area for active container charging, to ensure continuous operation during the continuation of the voyage.

• Sustainable concept: Use HFC refrigerants that do not deplete the ozone layer to help protect the earth; and use 420 high-efficiency heat shields to reduce energy consumption.

The pharmaceutical processing center is connected to the air cargo box processing system, which can quickly accept, store and deliver the goods, and complies with the standards of IATA CEIV Pharma, an independent pharmaceutical logistics verification center of the International Air Transport Association. The facility can handle 235,000 tons of pharmaceuticals per year, doubling the existing refrigerated cargo storage area and handling capacity of the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal, and is the largest pharmaceutical processing center in the Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminal.

The pharmaceutical processing center is part of CPSL's comprehensive cold chain solution, which allows high-value refrigerated goods to maintain the optimal temperature from arrival to departure from Cathay Pacific's cargo terminal, and to be transported in a safe, efficient and fast manner. In addition, CPSL has a constant temperature freezer warehouse with an area of 1,250 square meters, a fast fresh cargo processing center, and constant temperature vehicles for transporting goods between the apron and the cargo terminal, and equipped with the Internet of Things cold chain system "smart freshness” solution.

Mark Watts, executive president of CPSL, said: "Investing in the construction of a new pharmaceutical processing center confirms our commitment to continuous improvement, providing fast and reliable services to meet the fast-growing pharmaceutical market."

Tom Owen, Chairman of CPSL, said: "The pharmaceutical processing center helps us realize our vision of becoming the world's most customer-oriented air cargo terminal service provider, and further strengthens Hong Kong's reputation as an international air cargo center for temperature-controlled cargo. leadership."
