At the meeting, the Foshan Municipal Government and China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
In the future, the two sides will carry out all-round cooperation in six major areas, including base construction, route development, industrial development, aviation and travel integration, air-rail transport, and low-altitude economy, focusing on the construction of the new airport. The construction of the new airport covers aviation repair and construction, airside logistics, aviation food and other related projects, with a total investment of more than 2 billion yuan.
At the meeting, a signing ceremony for the entry of the Foshan Airport Economic Zone was also held. Representatives of aviation food, aviation logistics, precision machinery, and aviation new materials projects such as Zhengzhun Aviation Precision Machinery Parts Headquarters, Gaochuang International Intelligent Manufacturing Headquarters, and Shenzhen International Greater Bay Area Water and Land Hub signed on the spot. In addition, new projects have also been stationed in key industrial parks in Gaoming District, such as Specialized New Bay and Headquarters Economic Bay, with a total investment of 50 billion yuan.
Previously, the much-anticipated Guangzhou New Airport has made important progress. The Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway and the Shenzhen-Nanshan High-speed Railway, which connect the airport to the outside world, are being accelerated. The Zhaoshun South Intercity and Airport Express Line are planned, and the New Airport to Guangzhou Nansha Expressway is expected to start construction in 2025. In the future, the new airport will introduce "two high-speed railways, one intercity, one express line" and efficient and convenient expressway sections to build a four-way and eight-way transportation network, achieving 1-hour access to Zhaoqing, Jiangmen, Yunfu and other western cities in Guangdong Province, and 3-hour direct access to the Yangtze River Delta, the central urban cluster, the Chengdu-Chongqing urban cluster central cities and Southeast Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Central Asia and other regions.
