On September 16, EHang Intelligent announced that the H216-S unmanned electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) has obtained the Experimental Flight Permit (CAVE) issued by the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), and plans to conduct tests and test flights in Brazil to demonstrate the EH216-S's leading unmanned flight technology and cluster management system.
After an exhaustive and meticulous review process, including technical document review, aircraft and ground control station inspections, the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency granted the EH216-S an experimental flight permit in Brazil. Within the scope of the CAVE license issued by ANAC, EHang Intelligent will work closely with Gohobby, a local Brazilian partner and operator, and ANAC and the Brazilian Air Traffic Control Agency (DECEA) to conduct EH216-S testing and test flights in Brazil. These initiatives are aimed at advancing the research and development of operational concepts and unmanned aircraft traffic management ("UTM") systems and services, and promoting the safe and efficient development of urban air traffic in Brazil.
EHang's EH216-S has received the first Type Certificate, Production Certificate and Standard Airworthiness Certificate in the global eVTOL industry. These certificates, issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), prove that the type design, production procedures and quality management of the EH216-S comply with relevant regulations and have been officially recognized by the CAAC for commercial operations.
Regarding the certification of the EH216-S unmanned eVTOL in Brazil, CAAC and ANC are currently in discussion to understand the regulatory model adopted by its design country and the regulatory framework applicable to the operation of this new aircraft system in Brazil.
EHang has been in close contact with ANC to maintain close communication on the EH216-S unmanned eVTOL specifications, certification process and applicable regulatory specifications for operation in Brazil. In November 2023, a delegation from ANC, accompanied by CAAC, visited EHang's headquarters in Guangzhou, China to learn about EHang and its UAM technology platform in person. During the visit, Mr. Hu Huazhi, Founder, Chairman and CEO of EHang Intelligent, demonstrated the EH216-S unmanned aerial vehicle and its type certificate, as well as its advanced operating experience to the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Administration, and discussed how EHang Intelligent can contribute to Brazil's vision and plan to develop advanced air transportation.
