On September 16, the U.S. House of Representatives Transportation Committee said that the head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will testify before the committee on September 24 about Boeing's quality improvement plan.

At the end of February, FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker gave Boeing 90 days to develop a plan to address "systemic quality control issues." Boeing submitted the plan in late May, and the FAA is still evaluating Boeing's reform measures.

On September 25, Whitaker will testify at a hearing titled "FAA's Oversight of Boeing's Safety Culture Deficiencies" held by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

The chairman of the committee, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, said the FAA must explain its supervision of Boeing before the Alaska Airlines door plug detachment incident in January.
