Flights at Dhaka International Airport in Bangladesh resume normal operations

According to Xinhua News Agency, flights at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, were suspended on the 18th due to a fire at its cargo terminal. Flights resumed as normal that evening after the fire was brought under control.
The Bangladesh Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism issued a statement on the evening of the 18th stating that the fire broke out around 2:00 PM local time and was under control approximately seven hours later. The airport later confirmed that flights had resumed as normal.
Farooq Alam, secretary-general of the Dhaka Customs Agents Association, said the cargo terminal where the fire broke out stored hundreds of tons of cargo, including imported clothing materials and electronic equipment. A full assessment is not yet possible, but the losses are estimated to be significant.
The press office of the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh issued a statement on the 18th stating that security authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of several major fires that have occurred recently across the country.
