Civil Aviation Resource Net, September 24, 2026: As the 2026 National Day "Golden Week" holiday approaches, Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as Meilan Airport)-a subsidiary of Hainan Holdings-has partnered with Meituan to launch the "Little Yellow Bee" delivery robot service. This service delivers food orders directly to boarding gates, making Meilan Airport the first in the Hainan Free Trade Port to implement such an offering. By further expanding the application scenarios for smart services, the initiative eliminates the need for travelers to walk back and forth between shops to pick up meals, allowing for a more relaxed and comfortable pre-flight experience.
Upon arriving at the departure lounge of Meilan Airport's Terminal 2, travelers can now place orders for food and beverages from terminal merchants with a single tap-using the Meilan Airport section of the Meituan app, the airport's official WeChat mini-program, or by scanning an on-site QR code. Orders are then delivered directly to the traveler's boarding gate by "Xiao Huang Feng" (Little Hornet), Meituan's intelligent delivery robot. Field tests show that the robot can deliver meals to a designated gate in as little as 10 minutes, effectively freeing up travelers' waiting time and enhancing their overall experience by simplifying the pickup process.
Furthermore, designed for the complex operational environment of an airport-characterized by high foot traffic and stringent security requirements-the newly deployed Meituan "Little Hornet" smart delivery robot is equipped with multiple sensors. It features centimeter-level precision positioning, autonomous path planning, intelligent dynamic obstacle avoidance, and the ability to proactively yield to pedestrians, ensuring a safe, standardized, and orderly delivery process that allows travelers to quickly enjoy their favorite foods. To date, chain brands such as KFC, Starbucks, Lawson, and Bingge Pea Noodles at Terminal 2 (T2) have adopted this robot delivery service, with more brands set to be introduced in the future.

To enable travelers to experience new, convenient smart services at attractive rates, Meilan Airport has partnered with Meituan to launch an exclusive promotional campaign, releasing a total of 6 million yuan in food delivery discount vouchers. During the first month, 2 million yuan worth of high-value vouchers will be released, featuring two tiers of offers: 18 yuan off orders of 38 yuan or more, and 32 yuan off orders of 60 yuan or more. Users can claim one voucher per tier daily, catering to various dining needs ranging from quick solo meals to group orders. Travelers can obtain these vouchers via QR codes on airport promotional materials, dedicated "Tap-to-Access" installations, or the Meilan Airport section of the Meituan app; the vouchers are automatically saved to the user's account and applied at checkout.
The successful deployment of the "Little Hornet" delivery robot service marks another milestone in Meilan Airport's development of smart services. Moving forward, the airport will continue to advance smart aviation initiatives. By focusing on the diverse and specific needs of travelers, it aims to expand smart service applications, innovate convenient service models, and optimize the entire travel journey. Through digital and intelligent upgrades, Meilan Airport is committed to delivering a high-quality airport travel experience that is more convenient, comfortable, and welcoming for all travelers entering or leaving the island.
