On September 18, the 2026 annual work meeting of the Airport Planning and Construction Professional Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Committee") under the China Civil Airports Association was held in Chongqing. The meeting was chaired by Xie Gaochao, Director of the Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Civil Aviation Airport Construction Group Co., Ltd., and was attended by Zhang Yuan, Secretary-General of the Airport Association. Thirty-two representatives from airport groups and entities-including those from Chongqing, Hubei, Yunnan, Guangdong, and the Eastern and Western regions-participated in the meeting.

At the opening of the meeting, Wu Bo, Deputy General Manager of Chongqing Airport Group Co., Ltd., delivered a welcome address, extending a warm welcome to the delegates and outlining the development and construction status of Chongqing Airport. Subsequently, updates regarding changes to the committee's vice-chair units and their representatives were announced, followed by a summary report from the Director General on the work accomplished in 2025. Over the past year, under the leadership of the Airport Association and focusing closely on the "Three Ones" key initiatives, the committee organized member participation in the 17th Technical Seminar of the China-UK Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade's Airport Working Group, conducted a specialized study on the T3 Terminal at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, and continued to formulate and release relevant industry group standards, achieving significant results. Representatives from the vice-chair units shared insights and experiences regarding airport construction and operations; specifically, Chongqing Jiangbei Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, Xi'an Xianyang Airport, and Civil Aviation Construction Engineering shared expertise on topics such as the T3B Terminal and fourth runway construction, supervision of large-diameter shield tunneling beneath active runways and taxiways, quality control and the creation of "exemplary projects," and prefabricated pavement technology. Attendees actively engaged in discussions and knowledge sharing based on these presentations, collectively fostering high-quality industry development. Three industry experts delivered specialized lectures on the application of the *Model Documents for Civil Airport Procurement (for projects not mandatorily subject to public tender)*, practices in full-process engineering consulting, and credit enhancement through engineering guarantees, providing technical guidance and practical implementation pathways for airport planning and construction.

Zhang Yuan, Secretary-General of the Airport Association, reviewed the achievements made by the specialized committee since its inception. She expressed hope that the committee would continue to play a leading role by focusing on industry challenges and innovative practices, accelerating the practical application of group standards, and proactively planning the agenda for the coming year, thereby continuously enhancing the committee's professionalism, cohesion, and influence. Xie Gaochao, Director of the specialized committee, thanked the member units and the association for their strong support in his concluding remarks. He noted that 2026 marks the beginning of the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, and the tasks associated with airport construction remain substantial. In the face of new circumstances and requirements, the committee must continue to serve as a vital platform and link, intensifying efforts in areas such as group standard development, the practical application of achievements, and research into cutting-edge topics, to drive high-quality development and innovative breakthroughs in airport planning and construction. During the meeting, attendees also visited the Chongqing Airport Exhibition Hall. Huang Wei, Party Secretary and Chairman of Chongqing Airport Group Co., Ltd., personally narrated the airport's development journey-tracing its evolution from early construction to its rise as a major aviation hub, and from a single terminal to the coordinated operation of multiple runways and terminals. His vivid presentation of the airport's history of hard work and construction achievements deeply impressed the attendees.

In the afternoon, conference organizers arranged a site visit to Terminal 3 (T3) at Chongqing Airport. Participants toured the T3 terminal building, the automated people mover (APM) system, and the remote apron control tower, gaining in-depth insight into the development of "four-type airports." The visit focused on innovative applications such as the airport's digital twin, the Foreign Object Debris (FOD) detection system, and the first electric vehicle battery-swapping station for airside operations in China's civil aviation sector.

This meeting featured a packed agenda, pragmatic content, and a clear focus; it further consolidated industry consensus and laid a solid foundation for fostering collaborative progress, as well as the mutually reinforcing development of standards and technological innovation. Moving forward, the Specialized Committee will continue to serve as a bridge and link, pooling industry-wide strengths to inject powerful momentum into the high-quality development of airport planning and construction.
