The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, said in a meeting with the media on the 18th that the "red and yellow codes" will be launched after the SAR government analyzes the data more accurately.
Li Jiachao reiterated that the SAR government will not "lay flat" in terms of epidemic prevention and control, because compared with other places, Hong Kong has a denser living environment, the vaccination rate of the elderly and children is not high, and the medical system is also limited by load.
Li Jiachao pointed out that when the number of confirmed diagnoses increases, the number of hospitalizations will also increase. At present, more than 1,000 patients are being treated in hospitals. According to the assessment, a quarter of the medical system's resources are likely to be used to deal with confirmed cases by the end of July, and the medical insurance of others will be affected.
Li Jiachao said that the SAR government uses precise methods to target and control confirmed cases, in order to minimize the number of people under control. He emphasized that the "red and yellow codes" will be launched after a more accurate analysis of the data. The "red codes" are for confirmed cases, and the "yellow codes" are for those who come to Hong Kong through the airport and are subject to quarantine.
