On October 5 (local time), a confrontation occurred between a passenger and airport security personnel at Domine Eduard Osok Airport in Sorong, Indonesia. After missing his flight-and even after the aircraft had already detached from the boarding bridge and was preparing to taxi away-the man forcibly entered the boarding bridge and engaged in a physical altercation with security staff attempting to stop him; footage of the incident has drawn attention on social media.

According to Indonesian media reports, the man had intended to board a Lion Air flight bound for Jayapura. By the time he arrived at the gate, the boarding process had concluded, the cabin door was closed, the boarding bridge connecting the aircraft to the terminal had been retracted, and the plane was preparing to leave its parking stand. Lion Air stated that staff had followed standard procedures, making multiple announcements for passengers to board and even calling the man by name after the routine reminders, yet he failed to arrive in time.

A video circulating online shows the man, carrying a backpack, appearing at the end of a boarding bridge that had already been disconnected from the aircraft. Despite attempts by on-site security personnel to stop him, he tried to push forward, resulting in a fierce struggle during which both parties lost their balance and nearly fell.

Security personnel then signaled for the man to step back to remove him from the dangerous position. Lion Air stated that the security staff were attempting to prevent the man from proceeding further and potentially falling from the end of the detached boarding bridge. The airline has reported the incident to airport police.

According to a report by the Indonesian media outlet detikNews on October 8, officials at Sorong's Domine Eduard Osok Airport stated they would evaluate the incident and strengthen management and monitoring in the boarding gate and bridge areas. They also plan to refine access control measures for the period following the conclusion of boarding to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
