India's IndiGo has announced the resumption of direct flights between China and India.
IndiGo will operate a daily direct flight from Kolkata to Guangzhou starting October 26th, using an Airbus A320.
In addition, IndiGo will also operate a Delhi-Guangzhou route (subject to regulatory approval).
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers stated, "We hope to open more direct routes to China."
This marks the first resumption of direct flights between China and India in over five years.
Recently, the Indian Embassy in China announced that direct flights between China and India will resume by the end of October 2025.
According to reports, earlier this year, the civil aviation authorities of the two countries held technical consultations on resuming direct flights between India and China and revising the Air Services Agreement. Following these consultations, the two sides have reached a consensus that direct flights connecting designated destinations between the two countries can resume by the end of October 2025, based on the 2025 winter season flight schedule. The specific implementation is subject to the commercial decision of the designated airlines of the two countries and must meet all operational standards.
