Civil Aviation Resources Network, October 31, 2024: According to foreign media reports, on October 29, local time, after an A330 (registration number PK-LEH) of Indonesian Lion Air landed at Mecca Airport in Saudi Arabia, a female passenger accidentally fell from the aircraft passenger ladder. Due to serious injuries, she was immediately sent to the hospital for treatment, but eventually died after failed rescue.

It is reported that the flight involved was JT-74 flight from Surabaya, Indonesia to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The flight landed safely, and after taxiing to the parking position, passengers got off the plane through the aircraft passenger ladder.

Investigators from the Saudi National Transportation Safety Center (NTSC) have launched an investigation into the incident. The NTSC said: "Preliminary information shows that a passenger accidentally fell from the passenger ladder when getting off the plane and was sent to the hospital and died after failed rescue."
