1. Asia-Pacific Airlines' International Passenger Traffic Grew 7.7% in July

Preliminary July passenger data released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAP) shows that international passenger demand continues to rise, driven by tourism growth. International passenger traffic increased 7.7% year-on-year to 33.4 million. Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPKs) increased 8%, available seat capacity increased 8.6%, and the international load factor was 82.0%.

Air New Zealand expects little improvement in its engine availability issues, which have grounded up to 20% of its jet fleet, over the next 12 months. The airline is facing significant challenges from ongoing global engine maintenance bottlenecks.

3. El Al's second-quarter profit plummeted 55%.

El Al reported Thursday that its second-quarter profit plummeted 55% due to the closure of much of Israel's airspace during the June conflict between Israel and Iran. El Al's profit for the second quarter was $66 million, down from $147 million a year earlier, while revenue fell 7% to $777 million.

4. FAA: Communications issues suspend incoming flights at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) suspended flights at Newark Liberty International Airport for more than an hour on Thursday due to a telecommunications frequency outage, marking the latest in a series of technical disruptions at Newark Airport. The FAA said incoming flight delays averaged 158 minutes and were increasing as flights resumed after a 75-minute suspension.

5. Riyadh Air's First Boeing 787-9 Nears Delivery

Saudi Arabian airline Riyadh Air recently released photos of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft is currently completing assembly at the Boeing factory in Charleston, South Carolina, and will soon be painted in the Riyadh Air livery. The aircraft is expected to enter service by the end of October, marking the imminent launch of Riyadh Air's inaugural flight.

6. IndiGo flight to Dubai suffered a technical malfunction and made an emergency landing in Ahmedabad.

On Thursday morning, an IndiGo Airbus A320 flight carrying approximately 150 passengers from Surat, Gujarat, to Dubai made an emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad due to a technical malfunction. The pilots made the emergency landing after discovering the aircraft had a technical malfunction.

7. Boeing seeks EU approval for its acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems

Documents on the European Commission's website indicate that Boeing is seeking EU approval for its acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems, the world's largest independent aerostructures manufacturer. Boeing announced in July last year that it had reached an agreement to acquire the former subsidiary in a $4.7 billion stock transaction, with Airbus taking over Spirit's European operations. The European Commission is expected to make a decision on the transaction by September 30.
