On December 26, 2025, Jiaxing Nanhu Airport officially opened to traffic. At 9:46 AM, an China Eastern Airlines A320neo aircraft, operating flight MU6231, arrived at Jiaxing Nanhu Airport from Beijing Daxing International Airport. The aircraft slowly passed through a water salute, the highest honor in civil aviation, and docked at the terminal bridge. This also marks the China Eastern Airlines "Beijing Daxing - Jiaxing Nanhu" route as the first passenger route opened at the new airport.

On the same day, both the inaugural arrival and departure flights at Jiaxing Nanhu Airport were operated by China Eastern Airlines. The first inaugural flight, MU6231, carried 146 passengers, achieving a load factor exceeding 90%. The first departing flight, MU6232, took off at 11:09 AM bound for Beijing Daxing, also achieving a load factor exceeding 95%. It is understood that Jiaxing Nanhu Airport will initially operate five passenger routes. In the winter flight season of 2025, China Eastern Airlines will gradually launch three more routes between Jiaxing and Beijing Daxing, Xi'an, and Kunming, achieving an average of 21 departing flights per week before the Spring Festival of 2026.

On the opening day of Nanhu Airport, China Eastern Airlines, in conjunction with the airport, held a grand inaugural flight ceremony at the terminal building with the theme of "New Hub, New Platform, New Beginning." Passengers on the first arriving and departing flights received commemorative gifts, including zongzi (sticky rice dumpling) dolls featuring Jiaxing characteristics, cultural and tourism brochures, and a model of China Eastern's "National Museum" themed aircraft. Mr. Wang, a passenger flying from Beijing to Jiaxing, said, "I usually work in Beijing. Flying directly from Beijing to my hometown was something I never dared to imagine before. Now, the opening of the new airport makes going home much more convenient, and I'm especially happy!"

The opening of Jiaxing Nanhu Airport is a key step in Zhejiang's efforts to build a "strong civil aviation province" and in Jiaxing's ambition to become a "major central city in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration." Jiaxing Nanhu Airport will complement the functions of hub airports such as Shanghai Hongqiao, Pudong, and Hangzhou Xiaoshan, further optimizing the layout of the Yangtze River Delta's world-class airport cluster.
As the main base airline in the Yangtze River Delta region, China Eastern Airlines' opening of routes at Jiaxing Nanhu Airport is an important measure to improve the regional route network, serve local economic and social development, and support the Yangtze River Delta integration strategy. China Eastern Airlines plans to launch more new routes from Jiaxing to Shenyang, Guiyang, Tianjin, and other destinations in 2026, facilitating travel and business for residents of Jiaxing and surrounding areas.
