Korean Air's acquisition of Asiana expected to receive EU approval
According to Reuters, two people familiar with the matter said that Korean Air's acquisition of Asiana Airlines is expected to receive European Union antitrust approval after Korean Air committed to selling Asiana Airlines' cargo business and divesting four routes to European cities.

At the end of 2020, Korean Air announced the acquisition of Asiana Airlines for 1.8 trillion won.
In November 2023, Asiana Airlines submitted a compensation plan to the European Union and planned to sell Asiana Airlines' cargo business.
People familiar with the matter said that EU antitrust officials have made it clear that they prefer an Asian airline, preferably a Korean competitor, as the buyer of Asiana Airlines' cargo business. South Korea's T'way Air is expected to acquire Asiana Airlines' cargo business.
It is understood that the four European city passenger routes being divested include Barcelona, Frankfurt, Paris and Rome.
