Civil Aviation Resources Network, August 2, 2024: According to Reuters, Lufthansa and Swiss International Airlines announced on August 1, local time, that they would cancel all passenger and cargo flights to and from Tel Aviv, Israel from now until August 8.
A Lufthansa spokesperson said that this move was in consideration of the turbulent situation in the Middle East. Lufthansa will extend the suspension of flights to and from Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, until August 12.
A Swiss International Airlines spokesperson also said that the company will suspend flights from Zurich to Tel Aviv until August 8, and suspend flights from Zurich to Beirut until August 12.
According to previous reports, on July 31, local time, United Airlines and Delta Airlines said that they would suspend flights to Tel Aviv, Israel for safety reasons. Delta Airlines said that it would suspend flights between New York's Kennedy Airport and Tel Aviv until August 2.
