Civil Aviation Resources Network, April 29, 2025: According to AvHerald, on April 27 local time, a Hawaiian Airlines A330-200 (registration number N375HA) aircraft was on a HA-457 flight from Honolulu, USA to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan when a passenger's phone suddenly caught fire and smoke. At the time of the incident, there were a total of 140 people on board. The flight finally arrived safely at its destination.
It is reported that during the descent of the plane, a passenger's phone suddenly caught fire due to overheating. The crew quickly extinguished the fire and properly disposed of the equipment that caught fire in a fireproof bag. The plane continued to fly normally and safely landed on runway 34R at Haneda Airport.
The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism reported that the mobile phone has been promptly sealed and no one was injured in the incident.
After the incident, the aircraft stayed at Haneda Airport for about 5 hours before returning to Honolulu on a return flight, with an estimated delay of about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
