July 30, 2026, Civil Aviation Resource Network: With the summer travel season halfway through, the tourism market in the Hainan Free Trade Port continues to heat up. From July 13th to 29th, Haikou Meilan International Airport (hereinafter referred to as Meilan Airport), under Hainan Holdings, has seen daily passenger traffic exceed 70,000 for 17 consecutive days. To fully meet the strong travel demand, Meilan Airport has recently launched a number of convenient services focusing on four dimensions: arrival and transfer services, accommodation facilities, special needs passengers, and transit travel, welcoming guests from all directions with heartwarming measures.

The T2 ride-hailing waiting area has been upgraded, providing a more comfortable transfer experience.
To enhance the ground transportation experience for passengers, Meilan Airport, in collaboration with Didi Chuxing and Zhongke Tuzhi (Wuhan) Technology Co., Ltd., upgraded the ride-hailing waiting area in Zone C2 of Level B1 of the T2 parking garage. The new waiting area covers approximately 600 square meters, with a warm orange color scheme incorporating island-themed elements such as waves, coconut palms, and white clouds. It features air conditioning, comfortable public seating, and artistic sofas, and is scientifically divided into three functional zones: business lounge, family relaxation, and charging stations. A "Welcome to Haikou" themed photo wall further enhances the cool, comfortable, and relaxing waiting environment.
Simultaneously, the new waiting area is equipped with a smart display system, featuring a high-definition bilingual (Chinese and English) screen. Utilizing AI visual recognition technology, it identifies and collects comprehensive vehicle information in real time. Once a ride-hailing vehicle enters the pick-up area, the license plate and parking lane information are instantly displayed on the screen. Passengers can view the screen to track the arrival and parking lane of their booked vehicle and proceed to the appropriate lane to board.
Airport hotels launch self-service check-in mini-program for a smoother experience.

Since the start of the summer travel season, Meilan Airport has seen a steady increase in domestic and international passenger traffic, with a significant rise in demand for transit and overnight accommodation. To reduce passenger waiting time at the front desk, Meilan Airport Hotel has launched a new WeChat mini-program called "Easy Stay." Domestic passengers can complete reservation verification and room type confirmation in advance through this mini-program. Upon arrival at the hotel, they only need to scan a code at the self-service terminal to receive their room key, completing the check-in process in as little as 8 seconds. It is understood that the self-service terminal covers the entire process of check-in, extension of stay, and check-out, providing 24-hour uninterrupted service and catering to the flexible accommodation needs of early morning flights and late-arriving transit passengers.
In addition, addressing the more complex check-in process for foreign passengers, Meilan Airport Hotel's "Easy Stay" WeChat mini-program allows overseas passengers to scan their passports for one-click check-in, reducing the original 5-minute manual check-in time to less than 1 minute, making it the first hotel in Haikou to implement self-service check-in and check-out for international passengers.
The Forest Secret Children's Play Area debuts, enriching convenient services.

During the summer travel season, the proportion of family travelers and underage passengers has increased significantly. Meilan Airport, in addition to its existing four themed children's play areas (aerospace, aviation, nature, and ocean), has added a Forest Wonderland themed children's play area opposite Gate 22 in Terminal 1. Decorated with soft, low-saturation forest colors, it features a biomimetic treehouse and a natural science interactive workshop, combining leisure and entertainment with science education to enrich the waiting experience for families.
While upgrading the family-friendly play facilities, Meilan Airport has also added 10 free loan points for essential supplies in the restricted areas of Terminals 1 and 2, providing wheelchairs, walking aids, and other accessible equipment free of charge for passengers with mobility impairments, offering greater convenience for special needs travelers.

Dedicated check-in counters for connecting flights have been set up, making "one ticket to the end" more convenient.

Compared to direct flights, connecting flight passengers often face multiple check-ins and repeated baggage check-in. To reduce the burden of cross-border transfers, Meilan Airport has designated counter number 57 in the T1 departure hall as a dedicated check-in counter for international connecting flights. Passengers purchasing connecting flights from Haikou to their international destinations via domestic transit with airlines operated by Meilan Airport (excluding Hainan Airlines and its subsidiaries, China Southern Airlines, 9 Air, and Spring Airlines) can complete all check-in procedures at this one-stop counter, with baggage checked directly to their final destination, truly achieving one-ticket-for-all and hassle-free transit.
It is understood that the Meilan Airport international connecting flight check-in counter is equipped with a dedicated passport input keyboard, significantly improving document verification speed. It also features multilingual intelligent translation devices and displays illustrated guides to international transit procedures and connection time limits, allowing passengers to independently consult relevant requirements and further simplifying the cross-border travel process.
Meilan Airport kindly reminds passengers that thunderstorms and typhoons are frequent during the summer travel season. Passengers with travel plans are advised to pay attention to flight updates and arrive at the airport 2-3 hours in advance to check in. In case of flight delays or cancellations, please follow the instructions of on-site staff. For any questions, please call Meilan Airport's 24-hour service hotline at 0898-966114 or consult online through Meilan Airport's official Douyin (TikTok) live stream.
