Civil Aviation Resources Network, August 01, 2024: According to foreign media reports, Singapore Airlines announced the restoration of standard cabin service procedures starting from August 1, local time.
According to CNA, a Singapore Airlines spokesperson said that the original work process will be restored from now on. When the seat belt indicator light is on, the captain will determine whether to continue to provide cabin service. In addition, flight attendants will not provide hot drinks and hot soup when the seat belt indicator light is on.
Singapore Airlines said that the measures taken when encountering turbulence are in line with the best standards in the industry. All personnel, including captains and flight attendants, have also received training in the past four weeks, including: identifying and dealing with risks related to turbulence, how to assist passengers in turbulence, and staying safe throughout the flight.
Singapore Airlines will also remind passengers of the importance of wearing seat belts through the in-flight entertainment system screen.
According to previous reports, on May 21, local time, Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 encountered strong turbulence on its way from London to Singapore, causing casualties. There are still 65 passengers and two crew members in Thailand, including 46 passengers and two crew members who are receiving treatment in the hospital. On May 23, Singapore Airlines announced adjustments to its standard cabin service procedures, including suspending cabin catering services when the seat belt sign is on, and requiring crew members to return to their seats, fasten their seat belts, and be more cautious in dealing with turbulence during flight to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members.
