Civil Aviation Resource Network July 18, 2022: According to Simple Flying, Turkish Airlines transported more than 260,000 passengers in one day last Friday (July 15), breaking its historical single-day passenger volume record.
On Friday, July 15, the airline carried more than 260,000 passengers with a load factor of over 87%, operating 1,543 flights with a total of 600,944,060 available seat kilometers (ASK). Compared to the same period in 2019 (Friday, July 12), capacity increased by 12%. According to OAG data, on July 15, the total capacity of domestic flights (measured by passenger seats) was 62,322, and the total capacity of international flights was 176,914.
Turkish Airlines’ route with the most domestic capacity deployment is Istanbul-Antalya (3,979), while on international routes, Antalya-Moscow offers the most seats (2,612). During the same period in 2019, the domestic route had the most seats available on the Istanbul-Ankara route (3,749), while on the international route, the Tel Aviv-Istanbul route offered the most seats (1,808). As can be seen from these figures, Turkish Airlines is increasing its global capacity compared to pre-pandemic.
According to Sabre, in the first five months of 2019, Turkish Airlines carried 5,054,159 passengers on domestic flights and 11,656,322 passengers on international routes. During the same period in 2022, domestic and international passengers grew by 14% and 8%, respectively. However, in the first five months of 2022, both the domestic and European operations saw a reduction in average underlying revenue of 15% and 6%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019. On the other hand, InterContinental Services generated 14% more revenue than in 2019.
