At 11:00 AM on May 28th, the "Jiaxing" Boeing 767 freighter slowly taxied out of Jiaxing Nanhu Airport in Zhejiang Province, bound for Dhaka Airport in Bangladesh. This marks a new stage in Jiaxing Nanhu Airport's international connectivity since its temporary port opening approval in February this year, providing the Yangtze River Delta region with a new, efficient, and stable sea route.
The inaugural flight primarily carried electronics, pharmaceuticals, and textiles from the Yangtze River Delta region. Subsequent return flights will include seafood and other goods from the Bay of Bengal. This route will significantly promote trade and economic development between the two regions.
As the first specialized air cargo hub in the Yangtze River Delta region, Jiaxing Nanhu Airport, relying on advanced international cargo terminal facilities, a mature port supervision system, and efficient air-land intermodal transport, enables efficient cargo consolidation, rapid inspection, and expedited release, reducing costs and increasing efficiency for cargo owners. By deepening cross-regional airport collaboration and establishing off-site cargo terminals, the airport's port service functions are further extended to the industrial hinterland, continuously improving the overall level of trade facilitation. Currently, Jiaxing Nanhu Airport has partnered with eight leading domestic enterprises. In addition to the Jiaxing-Dhaka route already launched today, 19 more international cargo routes will be launched this year, bringing the total number of routes to 20, including 9 in Asia, 6 in Europe, and 5 in the Americas, initially establishing an international cargo route network "radiating across Asia and reaching Europe and America."
