Civil Aviation Resources Network, June 23, 2025: After the United States attacked Iran's key nuclear facilities, the conflict in the Middle East entered a new phase and caused major routes to be cut off.

In recent days, many international airlines have canceled flights to Dubai (the world's busiest international airport) and Doha, Qatar, showing that the aviation industry's concerns about the region have escalated.

Since Israel began its strikes on Iran on June 13, the usually busy airspace extending from Iran and Iraq to the Mediterranean has had almost no commercial flights in the past 10 days, as airlines have diverted, canceled and postponed flights through the region due to airspace closures and safety concerns.

Singapore Airlines has decided to cancel Dubai flights until Tuesday (June 24), after it only canceled flights on Sunday (June 22).

Iberia Airlines, a subsidiary of the IAG Group, canceled its Doha flights on Sunday and Monday after evaluation. Regarding subsequent flights, Iberia Airlines has not yet made a decision.

Air France-KLM canceled flights to and from Dubai and Riyadh on Sunday and Monday, while Finnair cancelled its Doha service until at least Tuesday.

Kazakhstan's Air Astana canceled its Dubai service on Monday.

However, some international airlines are expected to resume flight services. British Airways, a unit of IAG, plans to resume flights to Dubai and Doha on Monday, according to Flightradar24. It had previously canceled flights to both airports on Sunday.

American Airlines had suspended flights to Qatar in the days before the US attacks, while United Airlines and Air Canada also suspended flights to Dubai. Those flights have not been resumed so far.

While international airlines are shying away from the region, local airlines in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq are cautiously resuming some flights after experiencing large-scale cancellations.

Israel is adding flights to help people get home and leave. The country's airport authority said so-called rescue flights will be expanded to 24 a day on Monday, but each flight will be limited to 50 passengers. Starting on Monday, Israeli airlines will begin operating outbound flights.

El Al said on Sunday that it had received about 25,000 departure requests in about one day.
