According to three sources familiar with the matter, the vast search area in the Arabian Sea and the rough sea conditions during the monsoon season have presented significant challenges to the search and rescue operation.

A statement released by the Pakistani Prime Minister's Office expressed Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif's condolences to the families of the five crew members and instructed the government to allocate all available resources for the search and rescue efforts.

K2 Airways confirmed in a statement that the missing crew members include Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Jato'i, Flight Engineers Muhammad Hamid and Muhammad Arif Siddiqui, and Loader Muhammad Tawfiq Khan. The statement said, "We continue to pray for the safety of our colleagues."

The Pakistan Airports Authority previously stated that radar data showed the aircraft had drastically changed course and descended rapidly before losing contact with radar and radio at approximately 9:21 p.m. local time on Tuesday, about 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.
