These 5 new airlines in Thailand will start operations next year!

News from Civil Aviation Resources Network on October 31, 2023: According to The Straits Times, Thailand is launching five new airlines with a total investment of at least 3.85 billion baht. They are expected to start commercial operations in 2024, focusing on Thailand’s growing aviation market.

According to data from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, the five new airlines that have obtained air operation licenses are: Really Cool Airlines, P80 Air, Pattaya Airways, Siam Seaplane and Landarch Airlines.

The five new airlines must wait for the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand to approve their air operator certificates (AOCs) before they can fly commercially in Thailand.

Mr. Patee Sarasin, CEO of Really Cool Airlines, said the airline expects to obtain the AOC in January 2024 and start flying from the second quarter of next year. Patee said that in the first two years of operation, the airline will focus on Asian routes, such as Japan and Singapore, and the company has four Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The company, which will initially have 130 crew members, will test the market with charter flights between March and May 2024 before transitioning to scheduled flights and subsequently expanding into the European market.

Patee pointed out: "We will not compete with Thai Airways International's regular routes, but focus on flights to second-tier cities, which will also help further promote the development of Thailand's tourism industry." Really Cool will also become the world's first An airline that delivers passenger luggage to the door. Meanwhile, P80 Air spokesperson Sorakrit Wannala said the company expects to obtain the AOC within the next eight to nine months and start commercial operations in the last quarter of 2024. It said that in the first two years of operation, P80 Air will use four Boeing B737-800NG aircraft to fly mainly to second-tier cities in China.

Mr. Thossaporn Usanee, President of Pattaya Airways, said that Pattaya Airways plans to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2024, providing comprehensive air transportation within Thailand and destinations in Southeast Asian countries.

In addition, Siam Seaplane is considering adding Cessna Caravan 208 model amphibious aircraft to its fleet to serve customers visiting Thailand's seaside resorts, sources said. The airline's first route will be to Satun province's famous Koh Lipe, where amphibious aircraft can cut commute time to the island to just 30 to 45 minutes.

The report pointed out that people familiar with the matter revealed that starting in April 2024, Landarch Airlines will operate short-distance charter flights between major cities in Thailand’s southern provinces.
