Civil Aviation Resources Network, October 15, 2024: According to The Hindu, in the early morning of the 14th local time, some criminals spread false news on social media X, claiming that three international flights departing from Mumbai International Airport were facing bomb threats.

According to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Airport Bomb Threat Assessment Committee confirmed the affected flights, namely Indigo Airlines Flight 6E 56 (from Mumbai to Jeddah), Flight 6E 1275 (from Mumbai to Muscat), and Air India Flight AI 119 (from Mumbai to New York).

According to the report, at 2 a.m. that day, Indigo Airlines' Operations Control Center and the Joint Control Center of Delhi and Mumbai Airports received two tweets about bomb threats. According to CISF sources, one tweet warned that there would be an explosion on Indigo Airlines' flight from Mumbai to Muscat, and the other warned that there would also be an explosion on the flight from Mumbai to Jeddah. Another bomb threat was received at 3:34 a.m., claiming that there were bombs and terrorists on the Air India flight from Mumbai to New York, and the flight would be hijacked.

The two Indigo Airlines passenger planes had not taken off at the time and had been moved to the isolation area of Mumbai Airport. The passengers were safely disembarked and taken to the passenger terminal. The planes were also checked for explosives and no abnormalities were found. The Air India flight was already in the air at the time and made an emergency landing at Delhi Airport after receiving the bomb threat.

In a press statement on the morning of the 14th, Air India said: "All 239 passengers and 19 crew members on board have disembarked and are currently undergoing security procedures." The company also added that the flight has been rescheduled to take off on October 15.

Indigo Airlines flight 6E 1275 to Muscat took off from Mumbai at 8:54 a.m. after a delay of 7 hours, and flight 6E 56 to Jeddah took off after a delay of more than 11 hours.
