As early as 2019, Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport asked Vietnam Airlines to provide more details about its plan to purchase 50 narrow-body aircraft by 2025. At that time, the financially troubled Vietnam Airlines was torn between the A320neo family of aircraft and the 737MAX.
It is said that Vietnam Airlines is currently paying attention to the Boeing 737MAX 8 and may sign a temporary purchase agreement and memorandum of understanding when President Biden visits Hanoi, Vietnam.
