Civil Aviation Resources Network, June 14, 2024: On June 14, 2024, the domestically-made large aircraft C919 added a new route - at 9:37 am that day, China Eastern Airlines' first C919 passenger aircraft with the aircraft number B-919A flew MU5309 from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport with 162 passengers, marking the official opening of the fourth commercial scheduled route for C919. The flight arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport at 11:40 and was greeted by the highest civil aviation etiquette, the "Watergate Ceremony".
As the first global user of the domestically produced large aircraft C919 and the only airline currently operating C919 commercially, China Eastern Airlines' C919 fleet has reached 6 aircraft, and is currently operating routes such as Shanghai Hongqiao-Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Hongqiao-Chengdu Tianfu and Shanghai Hongqiao-Xi'an Xianyang, with the daily utilization rate of aircraft constantly increasing. On June 1 this year, China Eastern Airlines' C919 passenger aircraft carried out its first cross-border commercial flight, chartering Hong Kong college students participating in the "Shanghai-Hong Kong Gathering Together in Shanghai" internship program from Hong Kong to Shanghai, adding another "milestone" to the commercial operation of C919. From the commercial maiden flight on May 28, 2023 to June 13, 2024, China Eastern Airlines' C919 fleet has cumulatively carried out 2,360 commercial flights, with a total commercial flight time of more than 6,560 hours, and carried more than 300,000 passengers. It is deeply loved and praised by passengers, and the comprehensive operational capabilities of C919 have been fully tested.
Guangzhou is the core engine city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Guangzhou Baiyun Airport has the location advantage of an all-round gateway complex international aviation hub. As a member of the national civil aviation team, China Eastern Airlines established China Eastern Airlines Guangdong Branch in 2016, deeply integrating into the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, taking root in South Guangdong, radiating South Asia, connecting the world, and strengthening the aviation network layout in South China. The C919's operation of the new Shanghai-Guangzhou route has realized the commercial operation of the domestically produced large aircraft C919 in major large aviation hubs such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Xi'an. It will not only facilitate more passengers, business people, and Chinese and foreign tourists to experience domestically produced large aircraft, but also attract young people and students to "check in" C919 during the upcoming summer peak season.
At present, the number of flights on the "Shanghai-Guangzhou Express" that China Eastern Airlines has focused on building has reached 36 flights per day (round trip), with an average flight frequency of one flight per hour and one flight every half an hour during peak hours, and an average monthly passenger transportation of more than 150,000 people. According to the current flight plan, China Eastern Airlines' C919 passenger aircraft will perform two round-trip flights on the Shanghai Hongqiao-Guangzhou Baiyun route every day. The outbound flight MU5309 takes off from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport at 9:30 am and arrives in Guangzhou at 11:55; the return flight MU5316 takes off from Guangzhou at 13:30 and arrives in Shanghai at 16:00.
On today's inaugural flight, China Eastern Airlines equipped passengers with Lingnan-flavored "cured meat claypot rice" and Shanghai-flavored White Rabbit milk candy-flavored milk, butterfly cakes and other snacks. Passengers can also watch a safety demonstration video full of "Chinese style", use special aircraft offerings with "C919 China Seal", taste "China Eastern Airlines' cup of tea", and deeply experience China Eastern Airlines' new "four precision" service experience. It is particularly worth mentioning that a passenger named Wang on today's inaugural flight had his birthday, and the crew thoughtfully wrote him a handwritten greeting card, thanking the passenger for choosing to fly with China Eastern Airlines and "soar into the sky with C919 on this special day."
It is reported that China Eastern Airlines will continue to receive C919 aircraft as planned this year, and the routes it operates will continue to be "updated", steadily moving towards the goal of "flying out safety, flying out ambition, flying out brand, and flying out efficiency".
