Civil Aviation Resources Network, June 14, 2024: According to the BBC, Wizz Air has been rated as the UK's most delayed airline for the third consecutive year.
According to the analysis of UK Civil Aviation Authority data by PA News, in 2023, Wizz Air's flights departing from UK airports were an average of 31 minutes and 36 seconds later than scheduled. Turkish Airlines was the second-worst airline in terms of punctuality last year, with an average delay of 28 minutes and 36 seconds.
Wizz Air said it had made "significant improvements" but "there is still a lot of work to do."
The statistics cover scheduled flights and charter flights departing from major UK airports, excluding canceled flights. According to the data, the top five airlines with the most serious delays are Wizz Air, Turkish Airlines, TUI Airlines, Air India and Turkish low-cost airline Pegasus Airlines.
Irish airline Emerald Airlines performed best last year, with an average delay of only 13 minutes and 6 seconds, while Virgin Atlantic ranked second with an average delay of 13 minutes and 42 seconds. The average delay for all flights was 20 minutes and 42 seconds, down from 23 minutes in 2022.
